LeonDalePhotographers Lesson Two/Part one
So you have infront of you Ten photographs that you would have loved to have taken. Lay them out before you. You may have ten photographs of Women, or you may have ten photo’s of Cars. Or maybe five of food and five of landsscapes.
Maybe you have all Black and whites or a number of heavily photoshopped images or some minimalist style photos. This is the first thing to notice.
What ties the images together?
What is the primary subject in the photos? This may be the most important question to ask your self in these begining stages. If you have been shooting for a while you may want to ask if the style in your choosen photos is the style you have been shooting.
Here, Have a moment and think about it. This idea deserves a good amount of thinking.
While you’re at is, here are some more points to be aware of and to ask your self about the choosen photos.
B/W or Color
Candid or Controlled
Natural or exaggerated color
Presentation of Subject or presentation of storyline
Close ups, three quarters or long shots
Static or Dynamic
Simple or dramatic lighting
Studio, indoor or outdoor shoots
Inclusion or exclusion of enviroment…
Keep going. The photos yheou choose, even where you chose them from, are a sign of who you are photographically. This is a glimpse in to the path you and your camera are about to take.
Note this Idea can be used in many aspects of your life. The more you analyze the trends present in your choices, the more you know about yourself and what to expect in the future.
Now tae those photos, store them with an indication of the date—they will become very useful later.
Tune in for Lesson three.
1 year agoLeonDalePhotographers' Lesson one / Part one
Hello,
Before the business comes the art.
This is because you can go into business in any field, with any skill. If you choose to go into business doing photography, it pays to know a little about the craft first. Note you need not be an expert.
A good thing to know is why you have choosen Photography of all the skills and what styles/areas/ideas caught your attention.
To put it short: lesson one / Part one is ‘know your self’
Know yourself, your motives, what you like to see, what you’d like to accomplish. It will become increasingly important as you progress. As with many fields, you will eventually be told to specialize or at least have a thread of familiararity in your work. This will be easy if you know what it is that you have been trying to put forth in your work.
So, for your homework, go through some magazines, or search the internet, clipping the photographs that you would have loved to have shot.
Collect at least ten. Next lesson we will talk about what to do with them.
ok.
That’s about all I have to say about that.
Good shooting!

1 year agoUphill is nice
Well Tony Mills and Jennifer went with Suko and Myself to RavenCliff Falls.
Just a little bit of a hike. it was just what I needed to begin shooting again with the love of photography not need for money.
It was wonderful to be out there with some chilled out friends amongst the wilderness. There were three water falls, but this one was the best.
I am looking forward to our next outting.
This one was mostly uphill but the rewarding views made it worth it.
And anyway, uphill is the only way out of the valley….
